What Is Included in CeMAP Exam Fees?

What is included in CeMAP exam fees including exam sitting, marking, results and digital study materials

The CeMAP exam fee covers more than simply sitting the exam. When you register for CeMAP with the London Institute of Banking & Finance (LIBF), part of Walbrook Institute London, your registration includes access to the relevant digital study materials and your first exam entry for the units you have registered for.

However, there are additional CeMAP study resources and training options that are not automatically included. Understanding the difference is important when working out the real cost of completing the qualification.

This CeMAP exam cost breakdown explains what your registration pays for, which resources are included, what may cost extra and where independent CeMAP training providers fit into your overall study budget.

What Does the CeMAP Exam Fee Include?

When you register for CeMAP, you are registering directly with LIBF as the awarding body for the qualification.

Your registration includes the core elements needed to study towards and attempt the relevant CeMAP assessment. These include:

  • access to the official digital learning materials
  • access to the CeMAP learning environment through Brightspace
  • your first exam attempt for the unit
  • remote invigilation of the assessment
  • marking and grading of your assessment
  • your results and assessment feedback
  • access to a free specimen exam paper for each unit

The official CeMAP qualification specification confirms that exams are delivered through Brightspace, the same platform used to access course materials. Exams can be taken remotely within the permitted registration period.

This means the registration fee should not be viewed purely as an examination charge. It provides your registration with the awarding body, access to its core learning provision and your initial assessment.

Are CeMAP Study Materials Included in the Registration Fee?

Yes, official digital study materials are included with CeMAP registration, but this is limited.

These materials are accessed online through the LIBF learning environment rather than automatically being supplied as printed books.

The syllabus and learning content provide the knowledge you are expected to understand for the relevant CeMAP units. This makes the official material an important reference point throughout your studies.

However, there is an important distinction between the core learning materials included with registration and additional revision or training resources.

Registering for CeMAP does not mean that every available CeMAP revision resource or training service is included within the fee.

Do You Receive Printed CeMAP Study Books?

Printed CeMAP study materials should not be assumed to be included as part of your standard registration.

The core learning provision is digital and accessed online.

Learners who prefer studying from physical books should therefore check what printed resources are currently available separately rather than expecting a hard-copy syllabus to arrive following registration.

This can be particularly important when budgeting for CeMAP if you prefer highlighting pages, making handwritten notes or studying away from a computer.

The qualification registration and the purchase of additional printed study resources should therefore be treated as separate costs.

Are CeMAP Specimen Papers Included?

The current CeMAP structure provides learners with single specimen exam paper for each unit as part of the online learning experience.

However, additional specimen examinations are available separately and carry an additional charge. Its is good to note that most of the LIBF Accredited Learning Support Partners offer these as part of there studies, so if you are taking training to support you towards your exams, check before your purchase additional resources from LIBF.

LIBF also offers its CeMAP Revision Tool, commonly referred to as the CRT, as an additional study resource. This provides further question practice, feedback and links back to relevant areas of the study materials.

Therefore, it is important not to confuse the specimen paper included with your registration with the wider range of additional exam-practice resources that can be purchased.

If you are comparing CeMAP costs, check exactly how much question practice is included rather than assuming that registration provides unlimited mock examinations.

Does the CeMAP Fee Include Training or Tutor Support?

Standard CeMAP registration should not be confused with enrolling on a separate CeMAP training course.

Some learners are comfortable working predominantly from the official digital materials. Others prefer additional explanations, structured study plans, tutor support, live training, mock examinations or supplementary revision materials.

LIBF recognises a select number of Accredited Learning Support Providers (ALSPs) that provide additional training and learning support for qualifications including CeMAP.

Using an Accredited Learning Support Provider is optional. You still register for and complete the qualification through LIBF because LIBF is the awarding body.

Training fees paid to an external provider are therefore normally separate from the qualification registration fee unless a particular training package clearly states otherwise.

This distinction is useful when comparing CeMAP courses. A low advertised price may relate only to training, while another price may include a wider package of learning resources. Always check whether your LIBF registration and exam fees are included or need to be paid separately.

Why Does LIBF Accreditation Matter When Choosing CeMAP Training?

There are many websites offering CeMAP courses, revision materials, question banks and study notes, but they are not all accredited by LIBF.

LIBF specifically advises learners to be cautious when considering learning materials or revision courses supplied by organisations outside its Accredited Learning Support Provider scheme.

The concern is straightforward: materials that have not been reviewed by LIBF could potentially be incomplete, inaccurate or out of date.

An Accredited Learning Support Provider has undergone LIBF’s assessment process, which considers areas including the accuracy of course information and content, how the programme compares with the official programme of study, quality of delivery and trainer or author credentials.

Accreditation does not mean that using a provider guarantees an exam pass. It provides reassurance that the organisation and its learning provision have been assessed against LIBF’s requirements.

When comparing external CeMAP courses, checking whether the provider appears on LIBF’s current list of Accredited Learning Support Providers or Trusted Partners is therefore a sensible step.

Are CeMAP Resits Included in the Original Fee?

No. A further fee is normally payable if you need to resit a CeMAP unit.

Your initial registration includes your first assessment attempt, but unsuccessful attempts do not provide unlimited free resits.

This is one of the costs learners can overlook when planning their CeMAP budget.

You should therefore think about your CeMAP costs in two parts: the amount you definitely need to pay to register and the possible additional costs that could arise depending on how you choose to study and whether you need another exam attempt.

A resit should be treated as a potential additional expense rather than part of the original registration price.

Why Do CeMAP Module Costs Differ?

CeMAP consists of three modules:

CeMAP 1: Financial Services, Regulation and Ethics (FSRE)
This introduces the wider financial services environment, regulation and ethical requirements.

CeMAP 2: Mortgages (MORT)
This covers mortgage law, policy, practice and the application of mortgage knowledge.

CeMAP 3: Assessment of Mortgage Advice Knowledge
This assesses how mortgage knowledge is applied to advice-related scenarios.

The modules do not contain the same amount or type of study and assessment, so their individual registration fees are not identical.

LIBF also offers the option of registering for the complete CeMAP qualification rather than purchasing each module separately. The overall cost can therefore depend on whether you register for CeMAP in full or take a module-by-module approach.

Because qualification fees can change, learners should check the current published LIBF fees at the point of registration rather than relying on prices quoted in older articles, forums or training websites.

How Does CeMAP Exam Booking Work?

The current CeMAP examination system is much more flexible than the traditional test-centre model.

Assessments are delivered online through Brightspace using remote invigilation. LIBF states that there is no need to book the exam in advance. Once eligible, you can take the assessment when you are ready within your registration period.

Before beginning the assessment, you will need suitable computer equipment and will be required to complete a 360-degree scan of your testing environment.

This means you should distinguish between registering for CeMAP and starting an individual exam. Your registration gives you access to the qualification and relevant assessment, but you decide when you are ready to sit it within the rules and timeframe of your registration.

What Are the Most Common Misunderstandings About CeMAP Exam Costs?

One of the biggest misunderstandings is assuming that the price of CeMAP registration represents the complete amount every learner will spend.

It may not.

Your eventual CeMAP budget can include the qualification registration, optional printed resources, additional specimen papers or revision tools, external training and potentially resit fees.

Another common mistake is assuming that paying a training provider automatically registers you for the official CeMAP qualification. This depends entirely on the package being offered. Unless the provider clearly confirms that registration is included, you should check whether you need to register and pay LIBF separately.

Similarly, seeing a website advertise a “CeMAP course” does not mean that the organisation is accredited by LIBF.

These distinctions make it much easier to compare costs properly.

What Should You Budget for When Taking CeMAP?

At minimum, you need to account for your official CeMAP registration with LIBF, which provides access to the relevant core digital learning materials and your first assessment attempt.

You can then decide whether you want to spend more on additional preparation.

Your overall CeMAP cost could therefore consist of:

  1. LIBF registration and initial exam entry
  2. Optional additional LIBF revision resources
  3. Optional external training or tutor support
  4. Optional printed study materials
  5. Possible resit fees

Not every learner will need every item.

The important thing is to compare like with like. The official qualification fee, an external training course and additional revision materials are different products serving different purposes.

Understanding what is included before you register makes it much easier to build a realistic CeMAP study budget without discovering unexpected costs later.
